Trekking to Toodalli Falls

Date : 30-10-2011
Place: Toodalli, 8km from Shiroor (near Baindoor)

We wanted to take a teaching break, so we planned for some trip. As we were planning, we had 2-3 options like Toodalli, Koodlu falls etc. But Toodalli got selected unanimously just because of its beauty and easy to reach by everyone including ladies and children.

We decided to go on 30th October, 2011, our team leader took care of booking Tempo Traveler for 10 team members. He insisted us to be ready at 6:30 at manipal, but we had to leave manipal at 7:30am because TL came at 7:15am and TT came at 7:20am. Finally we started and took breakfast break at Kundapura.

The hotel "Parijatha"  was our Iddli point. There  we had very nice Iddli vada and Tea. Some of us went for shopping and left at 8:00am.

Later we didn't take any break because as per our schedule we should reach Toodalli at 10:00am. Finally we reached at 11:00am. There we trek for 45-50min to reach the falls. But this time there was no proper route because of rain and all. So we had to struggle a bit by making route. We were in falls at 12:00pm.

As we reach there boys group got water for nice bath. So we of us were taking photos of falls with our group. We had packed food from Baindoor Shivsagar Hotel, ie palav and iddli with Chatni and sambar. Most of us were hungry after trek and playing in water, so had luch in front of falls.

After lunch I wanted to go to the top, so I forced few of our team members, but none of them turned up. So I started alone to climb the rock and reached the top safely. I took lots of pictures, by that time everybody else started to shout because it was getting late according our trip schedule.

Next we went to Maravante for sunset but we reached at 4:00pm itself. So we planned for boating in Padukone. We had about 6-7km of boating, which was superb experience. We could take nice snaps. this boating got over at 5:00pm itself, still some more time was there for sunset.

Suddenly we changed our plan and went to Gangolli Port for fish SMELL and sunset. There was huge crowd at port who were busy in auctioning fishes. We could not wait till complete sunset as it was about to rain. We left to manipal at 6:30pm and reached manipal at 7:30pm. When we reached manipal it started raining very heavily.

I would like to thank my student Mr. Naveen who is studying in final year (IT), MIT, Manipal, because he designed and implemented Water marking software for me.
